Next Actor Studio in Houston offers classes for children, teenagers and adults. Children as young as five years old will learn to act, think on their feet and shed inhibition. Each week, exercises, games, scenes and commercials are done in front of a camera to help combat stage fright. For adults, the Stanislavski Method is taught, imploring the actor to look into themselves to find a personal basis for the emotion required in a scene. While at Next Actor Studio you will also learn how to audition, to understand the director, to improvise and many other techniques. In addition, filmmaking and screenwriting classes are available.
Also situated in Houston is Next Level Acting Studios, first established in Hollywood. Youth formats include camera work, mock auditions and improv. Preschool workshops for 3-4 year olds take children on field trips to destinations where children use their imagination to act and explore. KinderKids (4-5 year olds) are highly involved in creative drama activities which enhance early social skills and creative learning. Other classes include Composite for 6-8 year olds and Upper Primary for 9-11 year olds. All children learn invaluable life skills and find it easier to make friends and accept new challenges. For 12-18 year olds, the DKI Acting Academy is an excellent way to expand speaking, acting and auditioning skills.
In the DC area, aspiring actors and actresses will find The Theatre Lab the place to hone their theatre and drama skills. They work to make the real-life benefits of theatre training accessible to all regardless of age, income, or experience level. They also run innovative, free Life Stories programs for incarcerated and at-risk youth, homeless women, and seniors throughout the D.C. metro area. After school classes as well as summer break camps are available for students aged 6-19. Adult classes are designed for people with day jobs looking to pursue their theatrical side or boost their public speaking.
