Watching Mexican movies can be your greatest relaxation after a day of activities in Mexico. This is the greatest way to start your day all over again. You can almost see it at the lobbies of hotels. Usually, movies shown are about Mexican cowboys with their horses in a desert setting. But you know what? Most of these pictures are taken in the vast desert of Durango. There two things most associated with the state of Durango of Mexico are the symbol of the scorpion and, of course, movies because the area has been usually the backdrop of most Mexican films. Mexicans generally refer to the people of Durango as a scorpion from Durango. Durango is one of the states of Mexico. The Durango City is the state’s capital. Its major cities, aside from the capital, are Canatlan, Guadalupe Victoria, Vicente Guerrero, and Gomez Palacio. It is bordered by the states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Zacatecas, Nayarit and Sinaloa. Tourists can visit various film locations and may find themselves in an old-west town worthy of John Wayne. Movies are usually set in the area where it is partly desert that include Chupaderos, Villas del Oeste, Canon de los Delgado, Rancho Marley, Rancho la Joya and Los Alamos.

The State both has a vast forest region and desert basins but most of the state is heavily mountainous The Sierra Madre Occidental occupies the western and central part of the state and desert basins in the Laguna District near the Nazas River. Because of its location, mostly desert and quite far from the sea, main resources are timber industry, mining, smelting, construction, and the production of goat milk and cereals. Durango also excels in the production of corn, beans, alfalfa and fodder oats. The major occupations in Durango are farming, lumbering and ranching.

The richness of its mines and on the plentiful authentic resources was the basis of the architectonical growth of the area. Durango shows its fancy cultural heritage with its architectural structures of the past and museums. The greatest architectural buildings among them that you will find is the house of General Guadalupe Victoria, the old Ferry Building and the Navacoyan Hacienda. Religious structures also share the same historic attraction to the area. Durango Cathedral, the Temple of Purisima Concepcion, the Parish of San Antonio de Papua, San Agustn Temple, Santa Ana Parish and the Sanctuary of Guadalupe are religious centers for the state. The city monuments of Mexico are also one of the principal forms of how fancy their cukture is . Durango has an heap of monuments honoring people, constructions, historical dates and institutions. The Guillermo Ceniceros Art Museum, the Childrens Museum, the Revolution Museum, and the Durango Regional Museum, among others, are just few of the museums of the area. There are alos City Plazaas that share common importance. City plazas became a classic factor of Mexico after the conquest. Many of these exist in Durango like the Plaza de Armas and the Plaza IV Centenario. Other destinations are the suspended bridge of Ojuela in the municipality of Mapimi, Analco Temple, the Government Palace, the House of Count Suchil, the Sanctuary of Guadalupe, the Los Angeles Temple, Alamedas Drive, the Hidalgo and Ortiz de Zarate Gardens, Guardiana Park, Victoria Theater, the Municipal Palace, Plaza de Armas, the old convents, and the central building and cathedral at Juarez University.

There is a lot of reason why one should visit the area. When it comes to food, the most notorious dishes in the kitchens of Durango are caldillo, asadero and menonita cheese, entomatadas, enchiladas, chorizo, and for dessert, pinole and cajeta. Another is the Fiesta. There are different festivals including the Durango Fair, largest festival in the state. Everyone is invited to the state capital to enjoy a wide array of culture, music, art, sports and cooking.
